WAPPINGERS FALLS, N.Y. — George C. Schmidt, Jr., of Wappingers Falls, died Nov. 15. He was 75.
Born June 1, 1941, in Tarrytown, he was the son of the late George C. and Eleanor (Straube) Schmidt.
He proudly served in the U.S. Army. He was employed as an auto mechanic at Pleasantville Ford for more than 30 years until his retirement in 2003. On May 6, 1989, in Hastings-on-Hudson, he married Sandra Dean Schmidt, who survives at home.
He also is survived by his children and their spouses, Karen and Michael Curtis, Christine and Tony McGinnis and Edward and Donna Schmidt; step-children, Teresa Robinson, Thomas Robinson, Robert Robinson Jr. and Kimberly Robinson; grandsons, William and Nicholas Curtis and Jack and Doug McGinnis; step-grandchildren, Timothy Wilkinson, Scott Wilkinson, Marissa Wilkinson-Smith, Luke Robinson, Jake Robinson and Shane Robinson; and siblings, Janet Peterson and her husband Stanley and Raymond Schmidt.
Calling hours will be from 2-5 p.m. Sunday at the McHoul Funeral Home Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home followed by entombment at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery with military honors.
Donations may be made in his memory to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
